My Story

My name is Kelli Strange (formally Siebers) and I was born and raised in Michigan. Throughout my elementary school years, I found myself doing well in all areas except for reading. After several years of being in pull-out reading groups without seeing progress, a reading specialist was finally able to help me make progress as a reader. Although reading continued to be a challenge for me, persevering through this struggle led me to the life goal of becoming a teacher to help all students work through difficult tasks and find ways to be successful.

I went from playing school in my basement to babysitting all my neighbors and eventually began helping my Grandma teach Sunday school. In high school, I finally found myself assisting my former third grade teacher, which solidified my love for teaching. Although my family is full of University of Michigan alumni, I chose to attend Michigan State University in order to obtain the best elementary education training in the nation. After graduating from MSU with my bachelors degree in Elementary Education, my life-long dream to being a teacher became a reality when I accepted my first teaching position in Phoenix, Arizona. Although it was not an easy decision to move across the country, I felt it was the best option to advance my career.

I am currently a fourth-year kindergarten teacher in the Alhambra Elementary School District. During my time in Arizona many exciting changes have occurred. I have gained lots of teaching experience, earned my Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement, and earned my Masters of Arts in Education with a literacy focus in May of 2018. I also took some time to explore different areas of Arizona, rescued my first fur-baby Javier, and got engaged to my amazing fiancé Tony.

After four incredible years teaching and living in the Valley of the Sun my husband and I have returned home to Michigan where I hope to continue my career as an elementary school educator while living closer to my friends and family.
